Japanese singer Kenshi Yonezu’s song Spinning Globe now has a music video showcasing scenes from Studio Ghibli’s newest film, directed by Hayao Miyazaki, titled The Boy and the Heron (also known as How Do You Live?).
The video reveals several scenes from the movie, allowing those who haven’t seen it yet to watch them for the first time. The heartfelt song beautifully complements the movie’s visuals. Additionally, the music video includes English subtitles translating the song’s lyrics. You can watch it below:
Taking place during World War II, The Boy and the Heron follows Mahito as he embarks on a perilous quest to locate his late mother in an alternate realm teeming with deceased beings. Throughout his journey, Mahito seeks counsel from a mystical talking grey heron, which has magical abilities.
The film boasts an impressive English dub voice cast, including Mark Hamill, Christian Bale, Robert Pattinson, and other notable actors. You can watch the English dub trailer here.
In IGN’s review, The Boy and the Heron received a 9/10 score. The review lauded Hayao Miyazaki, stating that he “delivers the perfect coda to his illustrious career with a stunning animated adventure that reminds us how lucky we are to live at a time when Studio Ghibli is making movies.”
The Boy and the Heron is set to hit North American theaters on December 8. The movie premiered theatrically in Japan on July 14. There is no information about an Indian release of the film as of this writing.
