June 2023 Set to Bring Rebel Clash

A significant moment is occurring in the 2020 Pokémon TCG set Sword & Shield Rebel Clash in June 2023, as one of the cards is experiencing a 100% increase in value.

The Pokémon TCG is an ever-evolving and unpredictable market. In the past two years, there has been a resurgence of interest in the hobby due to various factors, such as the 25th Anniversary, impressive Sword & Shield-era sets featuring stunning Alternate Arts, influencers, box breaks, and the COVID-19 lockdown, which pushed people to find new hobbies. As a result, sets and cards that were once readily available became scarce. Now that the initial hype has subsided, let’s take a look at the current status of modern sets. Each month, I will provide an installment of the Pokémon TCG Value Watch series. Please note this series is not financial advice, but rather a guide to help collectors understand the availability trends of cards so that completionists like myself can make informed decisions. Today, let’s examine the cards from Sword & Shield – Rebel Clash, released in May 2020, and evaluate their performance in June 2023.

  12. Rillaboom VMAX Rainbow Rare 196/192: $10.09
  13. Milotic V Full Art 179/192: $9.67
  14. Copperajah VMAX Rainbow Rare 199/192: $9.18
  15. Oleana Full Art Trainer Supporter 191/192: $8.63

Wow, this is a significant jump. It may be the largest increase in the history of Sword & Shield – Rebel Clash. This further supports my theory that the “Waifu Craze” has returned to the Pokémon TCG. This trend is influenced by the popular Special Trainer Illustration Rare chase cards in the Scarlet & Violet sets, leading to an increase in value for Sword & Shield Full Art Trainers. The Sonia Full Art Trainer Supporter has nearly doubled in value in just this month. Impressive!
