According to The Hollywood Reporter, the acclaimed filmmaker behind the John Wick franchise will lead the live-action film adaptation of the 1998 spy-thriller novel. The movie will feature Michael B. Jordan reprising his role as Navy SEAL-turned-CIA operative John Clark, serving as a sequel to Amazon Prime Video’s Without Remorse. The Rainbow Six film’s plot details and release date are currently unknown.
THR reports that Stahelski will also produce the Rainbow Six film under his 87Eleven Entertainment banner, alongside Alex Young and Jason Spitz. Spitz is also involved in the Ghost of Tsushima movie project by PlayStation Productions. Both the Without Remorse book and film served as an origin story for Clark (Jordan), as he uncovers an international conspiracy while seeking justice for his murdered wife. Clark then becomes known as “Rainbow Six,” leading a secret counter-terrorist unit named Rainbow. The popular franchise has also inspired a line of tactical team-based video games by Ubisoft.
While plot details are scarce, the summary of the Tom Clancy book hints at the Rainbow team uncovering an apocalyptic conspiracy after dealing with several seemingly unrelated terrorist attacks.
