Reliance is gearing up to launch two innovative Jio smartphones in the Indian market soon. These upcoming handsets, which have recently received certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website, are expected to make a splash in the industry. The official announcement about these Jio Phones is anticipated to be made during Reliance’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) event on August 28. Excitingly, the rumored Jio Phones could be equipped with the powerful Snapdragon 480 SoC, accompanied by 4GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage.
A screenshot shared by tipster Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings) showcases the listings of the Jio Phones on the BIS website. The leak reveals that the handsets with model numbers JBV161W1 and JBV162W1 have obtained approval from BIS on Friday, August 11. Unfortunately, no specifications are disclosed in the listing apart from the model numbers.
Reliance Jio has not released specific information about the launch of these new Jio Phones. However, we can expect an announcement to be made by Reliance Jio Chairman, Akash Ambani, during the company’s 46th AGM, scheduled for August 28 at 2:00pm IST.
These Jio Phones have been the subject of numerous rumors for quite some time now. Last year, a Jio Phone with model number Jio LS1654QB5 was spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking platform. The device was rumored to be equipped with a Snapdragon 480+ SoC, an Adreno 619 GPU, and 4GB of RAM.
Previous leaks indicated that the upcoming 5G handset would offer 32GB of internal storage and a 13-megapixel dual rear camera setup. It is also rumored to run on Android 12 and feature a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Additionally, it may come with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera and a substantial 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging support.
According to a report by CounterPoint Research, this 5G handset could fall within the price range of Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 12,000.
