Millions of images are captured daily across the globe using iPhones. The iPhone Photography Awards (IPPA), an independent competition not affiliated with Apple, selects and rewards photographers annually. The latest edition of IPPA is now open for submissions, welcoming participants from all over the world. Here’s everything you need to know about entering the competition and the fantastic prizes up for grabs.

Who can participate?

According to IPPA guidelines, photographers using an iPhone or iPad are eligible to participate, regardless of their location. Participants must note that the submitted photos should not have been published previously, except for those posted on Facebook or Instagram.

What are the main requirements?

The submitted photos should not have been altered using any desktop image processing program like Photoshop. However, users are allowed to use iOS apps to edit their photos. Additionally, iPhone add-on lenses can also be used.

What are the prizes?

The grand prize winner will receive an iPad Air, while the top three winners will each receive an Apple Watch. The first-place winner in each of the 14 categories will be awarded a Gold Bar from the world’s most renowned private gold mint, as stated by IPPA. The second and third-place winners in each category will receive a Platinum Bar from the same gold mint.

Which categories can photos be submitted in?

Photos can be submitted in the following categories: Abstract, Animals, Architecture, Children, Citylife/Cityscape, Landscape, Lifestyle, Nature, People, Portrait, Series (3 images), Still Life, Travel, and Other.

Is there an entry fee?

Yes, there is an entry fee based on the number of images being submitted. The fee for submitting a single image is $5.50 (approximately Rs 470). The fee for submitting 50 images is $135.50.

When is the submission deadline?

There is ample time for iPhone users to go out and capture images for the competition. The submission deadline is March 31, 2024.
