Iphone: Here’s why buying the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus from US, Dubai and Singapore may not make too much sense

It is undeniable that iPhones are cheaper abroad. However, does it make sense to buy all iPhone models from abroad? Is there a financial advantage to doing so? The answer is both yes and no, and it depends on the iPhone model you are buying. But before we get into that, let’s take a look at the pricing of the iPhone 15 models in India.
Apple iPhone 15 series India pricing
Apple iPhone 15: Starts at Rs 79,900
Apple iPhone 15 Plus: Starts at Rs 89,900
Apple iPhone 15 Pro: Starts at Rs 1,34,900
Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max: Starts at Rs 1,59,900
Now, the price difference between Pro models is more and you can save up to Rs 60,000 when buying them from abroad. It depends upon the country you are buying the iPhone from.
Buying iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus from abroad: Price difference
On one hand, you can save a lot with iPhone 15 Pro models, but the price difference between the non-Pro models — iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus — is not that much and buying it from abroad won’t be a really good idea. Let us explain:
Before that let’s take a look at how much the non-Pro models cost in Dubai, the US and Singapore.
Apple iPhone 15 series US pricing
Apple iPhone 15: Starts at $799 (approximately Rs 66,315)
Apple iPhone 15 Plus: Starts at $899 (approximately Rs 74,654)
Apple iPhone 15 series Dubai pricing
Apple iPhone 15: Starts at AED 3,399 (approximately Rs 76,946)
Apple iPhone 15 Plus: Starts at AED 3,799 (approximately Rs 86,001)
Apple iPhone 15 series Singapore pricing
Apple iPhone 15: Starts at S$1,299 (approximately Rs 79,217)
Apple iPhone 15 Plus: Starts at S$1,449 (approximately Rs 88,448)
How much you’ll actually save
When buying the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus from the US, the price difference is around Rs 13,000 and Rs 15,246. At first glance, the price difference seems to be big. However, considering Apple is offering an additional discount of Rs 5,000 on non-Pro models in India on HDFC cards, the price difference reduces to Rs 9,000 and Rs 10,000 which is still decent but not as much.
Things become even more interesting when buying them from Dubai and Singapore. First up, the price difference is not much. It’s somewhere around Rs 3,000 for Dubai and almost similar to Singapore.
In fact, you can get these two phones cheaper here in India including a bank discount of Rs 5,000.
One more case
If you’ll notice the price history of the newer iPhone models, they are often found selling at a much lower price after a couple of months of the launch or let’s say around the Diwali sale. Last year, the iPhone 14 was available for purchase at Rs 67,000 including the additional bank discount. It is expected that the iPhone 15 will also be selling at a relatively more affordable price after a couple of months. This makes the case of buying the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus from the US a lot less beneficial.
