Invitation Extended to ‘Halo’ Enthusiasts to Partake in “Record-Breaking” Rendition of the Game’s Iconic Chant

Fans of the popular video game, Halo, have a unique opportunity to participate in the “world’s biggest” performance of its iconic Gregorian chant. The chant, composed by Marty O’Donnell and featured in the first Halo game in 2002, has become synonymous with the long-running series. Now, gamechoir is calling on Halo fans to come together and create this monumental performance.

The event will kick off with a live-streamed vocals lesson on YouTube, scheduled for July 10 at 18:45 BST. Participants will then have the opportunity to practice using a professionally-recorded backing track before submitting their performances to gamechoir. Singers can choose to perform in high, medium, or low voice ranges. The final piece will be broadcasted by gamechoir on August 17.

Marty O’Donnell, the composer behind Halo’s theme, enthusiastically encourages fans, regardless of their singing abilities, to take part in the chant. He expresses his astonishment that people are still singing the chant over 20 years later and believes that video games and video game music have the power to bring people together. O’Donnell extends a personal invitation to everyone to join this project with him.

Gamechoir, led by Choir Of The Earth founder Mark Strachan and musical director Ben England BEM, aims to connect gamers through music. The Halo chant will mark gamechoir’s inaugural performance, and Strachan describes it as a way to commemorate a significant piece of video game history and unite tens of thousands of voices to create something truly magnificent. England emphasizes that anyone can participate regardless of age, singing experience, or gaming background.

In other gaming news, recent court documents have revealed that Microsoft once considered acquiring Sega, along with original Halo developer Bungie.
