Surat: Frustrated with poor internet connectivity, a man vandalized an office of a leading telecom services provider and threatened the employees if his issue was not addressed expeditiously.The incident occurred at the relationship office of the company in the Adajan area on May 22 but a complaint was lodged with the police on May 27. The accused Priyank Patel, a farmer in Palanpur village near Pal, barged into the office, demanded a meeting with the manager, and started threatening the staff. When Bharati Jha, a customer care executive, asked him about the issue, Patel said the internet was not working at his house in Pal. Jha requested him to come a day later saying that manager Ranjan Raut was not available as she had gone out for some company work.Patel got furious and started yelling. He told the executive to call the manager or share his location so that he could go there and beat him. When Jha tried to placate him, he went into the storeroom of the office and broke the CCTVs, four laptops, two mobiles and a VR set. He came out and started ransacking the furniture, the complaint lodged by Raut states.Adajan police booked him under IPC section 427 (causing damage to property) and 506 (criminal intimidation). Patel is absconding after the incident. “He has agricultural land in Palanpur village adjacent to Pal village. Patel visited the store a couple of times as the internet issue was not getting resolved. He damaged property worth Rs. 45,000,” said RB Gojiya, Adajan police inspector.
