“Threads has started rolling out the option for a chronological feed of only people you’re following, and added translations too. More updates are on the way,” announced Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on his Instagram Channel.
Following and For You feed
Threads users can now view posts from other profiles on their feeds in two ways: Following and For You.
The For You feed will display a mix of posts from profiles that users have chosen to follow, as well as recommended accounts, on their Threads feed.
Users who choose the ‘Following’ option will only see posts from the people they follow, in chronological order.
Translations on Threads
Threads now has translation capability. Posts in the feed will be automatically translated based on the language they are written in and the language settings of the viewer.
“If you see a thread in a different language and your language is available as a translation, you can tap the translation button at the bottom right of the post or reply to see it,” the company explained.
Additional features announced by Instagram head
Following Zuckerberg’s announcement, Instagram head Adam Mosseri revealed the introduction of other features.
Users will now have new categories to sort their Activity feed, allowing them to filter by Follows, Quotes, and Reposts. Threads will also have a ‘Follow’ button on the followers list, making it easier to follow other accounts.
The third feature is the ability to quickly approve new followers if the user’s account is private. Users can use this option to approve all follow requests at once.
“We have listened to your feedback and are rolling out updates to Threads starting today. This is just the beginning. Thank you for your feedback as always. Please continue to send us more feedback as we continue to make improvements to enhance your experience on this app,” said Mosseri.
