Indus, a Battle Royale Game Made in India, Announces Third Community Playtest on February 25th: All You Need to Know

SuperGaming, a developer based in Pune, has announced the third community playtest for their highly anticipated indo-futuristic battle royale game, Indus. Taking place on February 25th at White Orange Software in Surat, Gujarat, the in-person event is exclusive to just 50 lucky participants. It is recommended that attendees arrive at least 30 minutes before the 1pm portal opening time. This announcement comes as Indus approaches one million pre-registrations on Android in less than a month since its release. Selected players will have the opportunity to try out the latest version of the game and provide valuable feedback, which will be used to make improvements before the official launch.

“To celebrate the love and support from our community for Indus, we decided it’s time to bring the game to Surat, India’s fastest-growing city,” said Roby John, co-founder and CEO of SuperGaming. “Our previous playtests in Pune and Bengaluru provided us with invaluable feedback that helped us create a better game. Now, we are excited to hear what the more hardcore battle royale players in the country think.” Last year, the studio held a playtest on a larger scale at Comic-Con Bengaluru with 250 players. The registration form for Indus’ Community Playtest 03 is now live, and interested players can sign up for it here. This time, the studio has partnered with Scarfall 2.0, another Indian-made battle royale title developed by XSquads Tech in Surat. This invitation grants access to both playtests.

Since the second playtest, SuperGaming has made numerous improvements to Indus. These include new skins, weapons, enhancements to the map and mini-map, customizable controls, and the addition of a slide feature. The latest version also introduces a ‘Weapon Testing Facility’ that allows players to test random firearms before entering Virlok, the island map. It is currently unclear whether this area will be accessible prior to a match while waiting for the servers to fill up. Reports suggest that Indus will incorporate bots or AI enemies if the servers aren’t populated in time, similar to other battle royale games on the market.

In Indus, players assume the role of a Mythwalker, a hired mercenary working for the COVEN, an intergalactic syndicate. Their mission is to extract Cosmium, a rare natural resource with a significant impact on time and space. The game follows the traditional battle royale rules, where players are dropped onto an island, scavenge for supplies, and fight to be the last player standing. However, Indus incorporates lore aspects to keep the gameplay dynamic. At regular intervals, Cosmium will spawn at a random location on the map, and the player who claims it will secure a direct victory.

While the characters in Indus have unique art designs, they currently do not possess any special skills that differentiate them from one another. The game will be playable in both first and third-person modes at launch, with the latter switching to a first-person perspective when aiming down sights. Additionally, SuperGaming plans to implement skill-based matchmaking and a ranking system, as well as a monetization system focused solely on cosmetic items. There is no information on a battle pass at this time.

Players can now pre-register for Indus on the Google Play Store. The Community Playtest 03 will take place on February 25th at White Orange Software in Surat, Gujarat.
