HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – From personal assistants to high-tech scams, Artificial Intelligence is a powerful tool quickly growing in popularity.
On Friday, UAH and the Alabama Commission on Higher Education are hosting a conference to discuss the technology.
Hundreds of educators and business leaders from around the state are learning about AI’s impact on education and research.
They will also learn how to best prepare for a future with AI.
Officials said while AI is great for many applications, it’s already proving to be very dangerous in the wrong hands.
“We got sessions that are on the very positive thing with what they can bring but also what the ethical considerations are,” said Dr. Jim Purcell, the executive director of the Alabama Commission on Higher Education. “The important thing is to have a real dialogue about the range of content and make sure we sort of know where we are before we bring forth new ideas and become actively involved in artificial intelligence in everything we do in our lives.”
Purcell adds it’s important to stay ahead of the growing technology as it becomes more impactful in our lives.
