Huawei has now brought HarmonyOS 4 to the Watch 4, one of two smartwatches it launched globally in late spring with a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset. According to ITHome, the Watch 4 is now eligible for HarmonyOS 4.0.0.191, an update that Huawei lists as a 763 MB download. In other words, the Watch 4 and Watch 4 Pro will soon be running the same software, albeit with SP11C00E191R1P193 and SP36C432E2R1P2 revisions, respectively.
Based on the changelog below, HarmonyOS 4 brings thirteen important changes to the Watch 4, four more than the Watch 4 Pro received with its recent OS upgrade. Arguably, the biggest new feature is arrhythmia analysis, which Huawei claim utilises the Watch 4’s electrocardiogram (ECG) and photoplethysmogram (PPG) capabilities. Also, HarmonyOS 4.0.0.191 enables the option of broadcasting your heart rate, as well as an interval training mode.
Additionally, Huawei’s changelog states that it has refined its ultra-long battery mode by introducing a new Himalayan app experience. Elsewhere, the Watch 4 has gained new photo album, astronaut and Shiba Inu watch faces too, among other changes. While it is unclear when HarmonyOS 4 will reach the Watch 4 globally, the release of HarmonyOS 4.0.0.191 for the Watch 4 Pro in Europe last month implies that an equivalent rollout for the Watch 4 cannot be that far away.
