Android TV currently dominates India’s smart TV market, but Amazon’s Fire TV devices are also quite popular alternatives. You can simply plug it into a regular television and get access to hundreds of streaming apps and services. The Fire TV Stick is also one of the most affordable streaming players in the country, and many of you happen to have it as well.
Fire TV has recently made headlines for its new software update, bringing a new live TV feature in India. It aims to make it simpler for users to find all of their favorite TV channels from select OTT apps in one place. Users can also access the integrated channel guide from the Live tab of the Fire TV navigation bar.
The new feature update is currently being rolled out on all the existing and new Fire TV Stick models and the Fire TV Edition Smart TVs in India. At the time of this writing, SonyLIV, Voot, NextGTv, and Discovery+ are among the first content providers to be integrated into the unified live TV experience.

Watch live TV channels on Fire TV Stick

The new live TV feature is rolling out on all Fire TV Stick devices in batches. If you haven’t received the update yet, follow the steps below to check for it.

1. First, select Settings from the navigation panel above the main Fire TV interface.
2. Now scroll to the right in the Settings menu and select the My Fire TV option.
3. Scroll down the following menu and click Check for Updates. If there’s a new software version, you should get the Install Update option. Click it and wait for your Fire TV Stick to download and install the update properly.

Once updated, you should see the new Live tab above the main Fire TV interface. However, you should first subscribe to one of the following integrated streaming services mentioned above.
You can pay for the subscription plan directly from your Fire TV Stick, only if you have a credit/debit card or other payment method linked to the Amazon account you are using. Else, you can visit their official websites to purchase the subscriptions.
Furthermore, you will be needed to install the streaming apps on your Fire TV Stick from the Amazon Appstore. You can then launch your preferred app and follow the on-screen instructions to sign in with your subscription.
Once signed in, you can go to the Live tab and access all of the entertainment, news, sports, and additional channels from your subscribed services. To access the complete channel guide, scroll down to the end and click Channel Guide under the Options row. From the On Now row, you can also access the programs that are currently live on television.
