Actor Harrison Ford bids farewell to the beloved character, Indiana Jones, after more than 40 years of portraying the iconic archaeologist. While Ford’s extensive filmography includes notable roles in franchises like Star Wars and Blade Runner, Indy remains an indelible part of his legacy. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ford expressed how the character continues to follow him, from his mannerisms to the unforgettable theme music, even after all these years.

The Indiana Jones theme is easily recognizable by casual cinemagoers, but Ford’s connection to the music goes beyond recognition. He jokingly mentioned that the theme was even played in the operating room during his last colonoscopy.

In collaboration with director James Mangold for Dial of Destiny, Ford enthusiastically discussed the final Indiana Jones project and their efforts to give the franchise a fitting conclusion. While the previous installment, Cave of the Crystal Skull (2008), received mixed reviews, the team aims to provide a more satisfying ending this time around.

Ford described working on the final chapter as “an honor,” expressing his desire to see Indy at the end of his career and to complete the journey established over the years. The actor acknowledged the challenge of returning to a physically demanding role at his age but embraced Indy’s age in the story, resulting in a wonderful full circle and a proper conclusion.

Mark your calendars for the release of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny on June 30.
