What was supposed to be a normal trip to the dentist for one Reddit user included a very furry and pleasant surprise that would have made anyone jump at the chance to make an appointment.
Meg, known on Reddit as u/nagem7, was waiting in the reception area for her dentist appointment in England when another patient walked in. This woman came inside to reschedule her appointment, but she was stopped when people who were waiting quickly spotted a tiny puppy in her bag.
“When the other patients noticed, everybody was super excited and started making such a fuss of the puppy which is totally understandable because it was so cute!” Meg told Newsweek via Reddit.
Not only was this puppy downright adorable, but it was also a dog breed that people don’t typically come across—the chiweenie.
“The owner said that the litter was a ‘happy accident,'” Meg explained. “This particular pup was the only one of the litter who hadn’t sold but she felt it was fate so she decided to keep it!”
Meg captured a photo of the chiweenie and shared it in a March 5 Reddit post on the subreddit page r/rarepuppers, which had people falling in love. The post brought in 539 votes as of Friday.
“Whoa reminds me of Dobby from Harry Potter,” commented one user. The dog’s ears were as big as its body.
Apparently, this isn’t the only time people have been blessed by dogs at the dentist. Another Reddit user said: “My dentist will bring in her standard poodle for anxious patients. He’s a trained therapy dog.” A dentist therapy dog would put everyone at ease.
The chiweenie breed is still relatively new. Hill’s Pets reported that the first chiweenie puppies were likely the result of unintentional crossbreeding. It wasn’t until the 1990s did breeders pair up dachshunds and Chihuahuas. It is believed that the trend began in North America to create a dog that looks like a purebred dachshund without back problems.
These tiny dogs are perfect for apartment living; however, they still have a lot of bark left in them like a typical Chihuahua. Chiweenies are energetic, loyal and playful. They pack a lot of attitude into their small bodies.
