Hanwha Vision America to Feature AI Solutions at ISC West 2024

Attending ISC West April 10-12? Visit Hanwha Vision America at their booth no. 14025.

Hanwha Vision America (formerly Hanwha Techwin) has been leading the global video surveillance industry with world-class optical design, image processing, and cybersecurity technologies for more than 30 years. They offer a comprehensive line of IP cameras, a video management system, video and audio analytics, multi-sensor technologies and more, and they will be exhibiting at ISC West in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 10-12.

In the following interview with Campus Safety, Hanwha Vision America Senior Director of Marketing Miguel Lazatin describes what visitors to his company’s ISC West booth can expect to see this year.

Campus Safety: What is the top product or offering your company is showing off at ISC West this year, and what makes it special? How does it apply to healthcare facilities, schools and/or higher education security, public safety and/or emergency management?

Hanwha Vision America Senior Director of Marketing Miguel Lazatin

Miguel Lazatin: Artificial intelligence (AI) will be prominent throughout the Hanwha Vision booth. Many of our new and existing products now incorporate AI technology to expand their capabilities and boost their performance to unprecedented levels, delivering precise detection, robust search capabilities, elevated data analysis, and enhanced image quality.

One example of new and diverse uses for AI is our new dual light AI camera, which combines AI with white LED and infrared lights for extreme low-light performance and accurate object detection. This new camera is ideal for schools or hospitals needing to monitor and track activity, during the day or night, in clear color reproduction with accurate people and vehicle classification that filters out irrelevant motion triggers, ultimately generating fewer false alarms.

The use of built-in white LED lights allows the reproduction of sharp color images in any lighting condition without the need for external illumination sources, elevating overall camera performance and simplifying installation with its flat-eye design. The white lights can be used to provide brighter, safer environments for pedestrians and vehicles while also functioning as a deterrent by shining a bright light on people loitering or suspicious activities in progress.

CS: What other products or offerings would you like to highlight, and what are some of their qualities and benefits?

Lazatin: At ISC West, Hanwha Vision will showcase its growing ecosystem of cloud-based devices and apps, including our new OnCloud offering. OnCloud is a fit for any environment where intuitive use, scalability and flexibility are critical, especially education and healthcare, among many others.

This direct-to-cloud video management system gives users low-latency access to live and recorded video, searchable clips, event notifications, and more. It’s a fully cloud-based solution for monitoring your organization’s locations and assets, whether it’s across a single facility or multiple sites. OnCloud uses Natural Language Processing to make live viewing and forensic review faster and more accurate. Searching is instant and intuitive – no waiting while a camera uploads from a gateway, an NVR, or an SD card. The results are instantly available. Search results can also be filtered by object classification and attributes

CS: How do your company and its offerings address the needs of hospitals, schools and/or universities?

Lazatin: Hanwha Vision is constantly listening to its customers and their needs to address specific business challenges. The results are new solutions specifically designed to deliver results.

The combination of IP cameras and data analytics helps school administrators better monitor their perimeters as well as areas of ingress and egress like corridors, hallways, classrooms, food halls, and exterior parking lots. Multi-sensor and multi-directional cameras help schools get more out of their tech spend. With one device, one data connection, and multiple lenses, a facility can monitor and record several key areas with unique fields of view for each, covering large areas more efficiently and in a smarter way.

Advanced video analytics are useful as investigative tools in the event of a security incident and alert security when someone is trying to gain access to the premise. Cameras’ built-in analytics can also be used for people-counting to accurately track the volume of people entering or exiting a building, which helps administrators monitor their population on any given day against their attendance records.

AI in healthcare has the potential to enhance patient care and improve operational efficiency. Hospitals are complementing their cameras’ security monitoring performance with enhanced data-gathering capabilities combining intelligent audio/video analytics and AI.

CS: What else is new or noteworthy about your company for 2024?

Lazatin: Hanwha Vision is focused on the continuing convergence of hardware devices and software solutions, both at ISC West 2024 and beyond. Our new products and solutions combine 24/7 protection with the latest advancements in Artificial Intelligence, analytics, and cloud-based management. We will continue to implement novel applications of AI across our product lines, as well as develop our business intelligence software, specialty cameras, sophisticated audio devices and of course, our cloud technologies.

CS: What is your company’s overall value proposition to schools, universities and/or hospitals? Why should they do business with you?

Lazatin: The ability for emerging technologies to integrate with legacy systems and perform as an end user expects can be complicated. A trusted partner can help guide you through that process by understanding your organization and looking after your best interests. They can verify and vet new products and technologies, helping users evaluate how new products might integrate with existing technology ecosystem.

Today’s technology boom and the widespread use of AI, analytics and the cloud can bring incredible advancements in both security and operational efficiency. Organizations need to be ultra-sensitive and aware of the compatibility and integration capabilities of the systems they implement. These investments can be significant and to create the most effective surveillance system, customers must ensure they are actually getting the promised performance from each asset they deploy to navigate the sea of new solution options.
