Half-Life 2 RTX is setting out to be an incredible remake, as the lighting improvements brought by RTX Remix are only the tip of the iceberg.
A new early comparison shared by ElAnalistaDeBits highlights how the newly announced project will look considerably better than the original, featuring a lot of visual improvements such as high-quality textures and more.
Half-Life 2 RTX was officially revealed only recently during a pre-Gamescom 2023 press briefing. The game is currently being developed by Orbifold Studios, a new development studio comprised of four of the top modding teams of the classic first-person game by Valve. A final release date for the project has yet to be revealed.
While this isn’t the long-anticipated third main entry in the series, it’s still nice to see how the series by Valve continues to stay in the spotlight thanks to the efforts of different companies such as NVIDIA and modders. Half-Life 2 RTX looks way beyond any other fan-made project we have seen so far, and its success may prompt Valve to pick up the series again and release a new non-VR game like Alyx that the vast majority of players could play.
Half-Life 2 RTX will launch on PC on a yet to be confirmed release date.
