Many male residents have evacuated Banphoolpura, leaving behind only women and children in some houses. Essential services were initiated, ensuring residents’ needs were met, with officials ensuring there are no shortages.
A health department official said, “A sick 18-month-old toddler was taken to a health centre and brought back home safely in a govt ambulance after being provided treatment and medicine. With the situation gradually becoming normal, essential services have been restored in the city including Banphoolpura.”
Zonal magistrate A P Vajpayee ensured the distribution of essential items to affected areas, including Kidwai Nagar, Indira Nagar and Nai Basti. He said, “Vegetables, milk and other essentials are being delivered to the curfew-affected areas through vendors to ensure that there is no shortage of these things for the people living there.”
Additionally, the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSC) examination proceeded smoothly at all the centres across Haldwani. Nodal officer P R Chauhan said, “The examination was conducted at nine centres and it was peaceful. About 48% of the candidates did not turn up for the exam.”
Meanwhile, further security measures were taken with the deployment of another Sashastra Seema Bal company in sensitive areas.
