Google Duet AI: Google rolling out Duet AI assistant to Workspace apps: What is it, price and more

Google has announced that it is bringing its AI-powered enhancements to Workspace apps, including Gmail and plans to start charging large businesses $30 per month per user. It means that the Duet AI-powered features will cost companies just as much as Microsoft’s
365 Copilot enhancements.
It is to be noted that the charges are on top of what companies are already paying for their Workspace subscriptions. However, Google will allow companies to join free trials before purchasing the subscription. When it comes to smaller businesses and regular users, Google is yet to finalise the pricing.
“The list price we came up with was in consideration with customers’ willingness to pay for the enterprise value we’re going to bundle into it,” CNBC quoted Aparna Pappu, Google Workspace’s vice president and general manager, as saying.
She said that Google started to take preorders for Duet AI for Google Workspace at the $30 per user price in June, but didn’t disclose it publicly.

“We were a little surprised to see our friends in Redmond come up with the exact same pricing model that we had,” Pappu said, pointing out Microsoft which is based in Redmond, Washington.
Google vs Microsoft revenue
Google Workspace revenue is covered under Alphabet’s Google Cloud category which produced $8 billion in revenue in the second quarter. In comparison, Microsoft generated $13.5 billion in revenue from Office products and cloud services.

Google Duet AI
In Gmail and Google Docs, Google Duet AI can help users produce a text result by punching in a simple text prompt. In Google Slides, the tool can create images on the basis of the descriptive text provided by the users, create a plan for a project in Google Sheets and take notes in Google Meet for those who missed video calls.
Pappu said that a consumer version of Duet AI for Google Workspace should become available “early next year”.
