Golden Globes to Move to New Organization as HFPA Gets Disbanded

The Golden Globe Awards have been liberated from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) by Dick Clark Productions and Elridge. They have now acquired all assets, rights, and properties of the Golden Globes from the corrupt organization, resulting in the dissolution of the HFPA and its questionable membership base with immediate effect.

In an official statement, it was mentioned that the 81st edition of the Golden Globe Awards is scheduled for Sunday, January 7, 2024. However, negotiations are ongoing with various broadcasters, including NBC, as the show’s longstanding contract with the network has ended.

After several controversies, the HFPA was considered a toxic brand that had become undesirable in the entertainment industry. The 2023 Golden Globe Awards had a record low viewership of 6.3 million viewers, after the HFPA’s lack of diversity was exposed earlier that year in a non-televised ceremony.

The HFPA consisted of about 90 voting members, who were accused of excluding qualified journalists from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds. They have also been accused of accepting lavish gifts and trips from studios and production companies, raising serious doubts about their impartiality in the voting process. These breaches of ethics have called into question the Golden Globe Awards’ integrity and the legitimacy of their results.

In 2018, actor Brendan Fraser accused Philip Berk, the eight-time president of the HFPA of sexually assaulting him in 2003, leading to the actor’s blacklisting and breakdown. The HFPA initiated an internal inquiry and concluded that the incident was intended as a joke but chose not to disclose the investigator’s findings to Fraser. The move was rightly criticized by Fraser, who refused to endorse the collective statement. Needless to say, the purchase of Golden Globe’s assets by Dick Clark Productions and Elridge is a welcome development.
