GEX, Enter the Gecko, and Deep Cover: A Revival of the Classic PSOne Trilogy in Gaming and Entertainment

Limited Run Games has thrilled fans by announcing their plans to bring the beloved PSOne era platform game GEX to modern consoles. In an exciting surprise reveal, Limited Run has confirmed that not only will they be releasing the original GEX, but also its sequels GEX 2: Enter the Gecko and GEX 3: Deep Cover Gecko on “modern systems.” While an exact release date hasn’t been disclosed, fans can expect the GEX trilogy to be available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch within the next year.

To develop these games, Limited Run will utilize their innovative Carbon Engine tool, which is known for breathing new life into retro releases.

The original GEX, a side-scrolling platformer, made its debut in 1995. However, the development team decided to switch things up for the sequels, transforming them into 3D platformers reminiscent of the PSOne era.

Limited Run elaborated on the exciting news, stating, “Tail time is imminent. Through the science of the Carbon Engine, Gex fans will be able to revisit Gex, Gex: Enter the Gecko, and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko on modern systems for the first time! Rest assured, Limited Run will have more exciting news to share about the Gex Trilogy in the near future!”
