Fortnite OG season release TIME, date, Battle Pass, server downtime and live event news | Gaming | Entertainment

UPDATE: Fortnite fans are now able to download the OG season update, as Epic takes the game offline for server maintenance on all platforms. To celebrate the release of the update, Epic Games has posted the OG season gameplay trailer, which showcases some of the new features and skins.

ORIGINAL: Fortnite developer Epic Games is getting ready to release the new season on PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Android. The new Fortnite season will appeal to old-school fans, as Epic re-introduces the old map, weapons and lots more. Fortnite OG has a November 3 release date on all platforms. Needless to say, the game will launch alongside a big update, not to mention an extended period of server downtime.

The Fortnite server downtime will begin when the game is taken offline at around 7am GMT UK time.

While there’s no official server downtime schedule, the game is expected to remain offline for around 3 hours. This means you should be able to start playing Fortnite OG at 10am GMT UK time.

The news was announced by Epic Games on Twitter: “Where we droppin’?” reads an Epic tweet. “v27.00 downtime begins at 3 AM EST and matchmaking will be disabled shortly beforehand.”

In a follow-up tweet, Epic confirmed that the file size would be much bigger than usual: “Please note that the v27.00 update file size will be larger than usual on some platforms.”

Sadly, however, there won’t be a live event for the OG season, although fans can expect a big in-game event to take place when the new Chapter launches in December.

Judging by the early leaks and teasers, the Battle Pass will contain mash-ups of past skin styles, which includes the Dark Storm Renegade Lynx, Omegarok, Harbinger Armour Omegarok, and Spectra Knight.

Emotes, meanwhile, include the Doze Dab, Lil’ Lomgboat and Flashback Breakdown. That’s on top of the Dessert Dropper contrail.

The Season 1 map will also make a return as part of Fortnite’s OG season of content, complete with some classic points of interest.

This includes Junk Junction, Haunted Hills, Pleasant Park, Snobby Shores, Greasy Grove, Lazy Links, Frosty Flights, Flush Factory and Salty Springs.

Needless to say, Epic Games will also bring back the iconic location of Tilted Towers, which was always a popular landing spot for fans.

Old-school weapons like the pump shotgun, OG assault rifle, LMG, turrets, traps and bolt-action sniper rifle will also appear.
