Fitness Tracker: Fitbit to start shipping the Charge 6 fitness tracker in the US on October 12

Google-owned Fitbit launched the Charge 6 fitness tracker last week in the US. The latest fitness tracker from the company is now available for pre-order. Fitbit will start shipping the tracker in the US starting October 12. The Fitbit Charge 6 will succeed the Fitbit Charge 5 when it launched in September 2021.

The Fitbit Charge 6 comes with several new features that aren’t available in the older models launched by the company. Firstly, the fitness band will now support Google apps, similar to the ones available on the Google Pixel watch. Users will be able to use the Google Map tool to check their running route, and Google Pay to make payments from their wrist.
Older models like the Fitbit Charge 4 had a side button which was removed in Charge 5. Now, the company is bringing back the button with haptic feedback on Charge 6 that will help users to navigate around the watch without having to rely on the touchscreen.

Just like its predecessor, the Fitbit Charge 6 has an optical heart rate sensor, which promises to be 60% more accurate. The latest wearable also has built-in GPS, red and infrared sensors for SpO2 monitoring, a skin temperature sensor, and the ability to do an EDA and ECG scan.

Apart from this, the Charge 6 features 20 new exercise modes which include surfing, skiing, CrossFit, and HIIT. Users will also be able to use the Charge 6 as an external heart rate monitor on gym equipment for more accurate readings. Fitbit has also claimed that the Charge 6 will be able to pair with Peloton, NordicTrack, and Tonal devices. The company has also promised that it will be adding more partners.
