Everything we currently know: Release date, rumors, and specs

Update: July 7, 2023 (11:57 AM ET): The Galaxy Tab S9 series is generating a lot of buzz in anticipation of its release. Samsung is rumored to be preparing three models for this flagship Android tablet lineup. The series will consist of the Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9 Plus, and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra. Leak sources have also provided the model numbers for each variant.

As for the release date, Samsung launched its Galaxy Tab S8 series alongside the Galaxy S22 series in early 2022. However, due to economic slowdown and weakened demand for tech products, Samsung reportedly postponed the development of the Galaxy Tab S9 series. The announcement is expected to take place in the second half of 2023, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Design-wise, leaked renders of the Galaxy Tab S9 Plus and Tab S9 Ultra indicate that Samsung will maintain a similar aesthetic to the Galaxy Tab S8 Series. The only noticeable difference seems to be the inclusion of dual rear cameras resembling those found on the Galaxy S23 series. The standard Galaxy Tab S9 also recently had its design revealed, showcasing a slight variation with one less camera. Additionally, the Tab S9 will reportedly be available in a new beige color, a first for the Tab line.

In terms of specifications and features, the Galaxy Tab S9 series is expected to have an IP67 rating for water resistance, a significant upgrade for Samsung’s flagship tablets. The S Pen, which received FCC certification, will feature Bluetooth Low Energy support and can be attached magnetically to the tablet. The Tab S9 Ultra is rumored to be powered by an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, with a slightly smaller battery size compared to its predecessor but still larger than the 2022 iPad Pro. The Ultra variant is said to feature a 14.6-inch display with 16GB of RAM and support 45W wired charging. The Plus variant is expected to have a 12.4-inch display, S Pen support, and under-display optical fingerprint sensor.

Pricing details for the Galaxy Tab S9 series are still limited, but it’s speculated that the Tab S9 Ultra could exceed $1,000. Based on the Galaxy Tab S8 lineup, it’s likely that the regular Tab S9 model will start around $699, the Tab S9 Plus around $899, and the Tab S9 Ultra being the most expensive at $1,099 or more. These prices are not confirmed, and Samsung may make adjustments.

Stay tuned for more updates on the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series.
