According to HP Wolf Security, Shampoo is often installed via websites that offer blockbuster movies and premium TV shows for free, a practice that has become increasingly popular in recent years. In addition to Shampoo, HP Wolf Security has also warned Chrome users to watch out for fake OneNote documents. Cybercriminals embed malicious software behind fake “click here” icons in these trusted files, allowing them to execute malware and gain access to users’ machines, which can then be sold to other cybercriminal groups or ransomware gangs.
