Dog Building ‘Nest’ With Pillow He Just Shredded Has Internet in Stitches

Most dogs misbehave from time to time, but some take it a little bit too far. A pup called Basil has left the internet in stitches after his owner caught his antics on camera.

In a clip shared on TikTok in November by @cindiwoohoo, Basil can be seen chilling in his owner’s garage with his sibling, who pretends to know nothing, lying on a pile of feathers, belonging to what used to be his pillow. The hilarious post comes with a caption that reads: “Our dog shredded a pillow and made himself a nest.”

For puppies, destructive behavior is just part of their development. Like human toddlers, they explore the world with their mouths, but once they start growing teeth, they will chew on anything to help soothe the pain.

Adult dogs instead could have many possible reasons to engage in destructive chewing behavior. The Humane Society of the United States says that it could be boredom or stress; it could also come about because they don’t have access to safe toys or they were never taught that it wasn’t acceptable behavior.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across Instagram. It has so far received over 1.3 million views and more than 214,000 likes on the platform.

One user, Jillissoham, commented: “It just exploded. No clue what happened.” And Karen posted: “Thanks for being so lovingly supportive of his artistic destruction.” ZebraNate added: “Maybe that’s his way of saying he wants to sleep in the house & not the garage floor……..”

User sayhitoyourdogformeplz wrote: “Yins seem like such safe and supportive owners. The fact there’s no anger in your voices at all.” And Jorden Lynne posted: “Was this a new bed? because it’s even better if he just shredded an old bed just for fun.”

Another user, Ashley Davis, commented: “My old man always did this. he passed in February. I’m so happy I bought him endless beds to tear up.” And HoneyandRigby added: “Adorable. You better just get a box or something for all the feathers and make that his bed.”
