Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Twitter, has recently unveiled a new social media platform called Threads. In just 24 hours, Threads has already gained over 50 million users. If you were one of those users who initially enjoyed the threading experience but now want to leave Threads without affecting your presence on Instagram, deleting your Threads account may not be the best solution. However, Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, has stated that Meta is working on a solution to allow users to delete their Threads account independently. In the meantime, you can deactivate your Threads profile to hide your profile, threads, replies, and likes. This action is temporary and your account will be reactivated when you log back in. Alternatively, you can set your profile to private or delete individual threads. It’s important to note that signing up for a Threads account requires an Instagram account, but you can use a different email or phone number to keep the two platforms separate.
Mosseri has also confirmed that Meta is working on adding missing features to Threads, including a “following” tab, hashtags, support for fediverse (a social network of different servers operated by third parties), and messaging capabilities.
