Dead by Daylight Mobile No Longer Available on Apple App Store and Google Play Store in India

Dead by Daylight Mobile Exits Indian App Stores Following Government Order

Dead by Daylight Mobile, the popular survival-horror game, has been removed from the Google Play store and App Store in India. Developer Behaviour Interactive confirmed in a tweet that they received an interim order from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) requiring the game’s removal from mobile app storefronts. While the specific reason for the order was not mentioned, similar security concerns regarding Chinese apps like PUBG Mobile and Free Fire have led the Indian government to ban such applications in the past. NetEase, a Chinese firm, published Dead by Daylight Mobile in various regions including Southeast Asia, Japan, and Korea.

In their tweet, Behaviour Interactive stated their commitment to providing a unique and compliant mobile horror experience for players around the world. They acknowledged the interim order from the Ministry and announced the removal of Dead by Daylight Mobile from the storefronts. However, there is speculation that players who already had the game downloaded may still be able to play it, although further updates will not be automatically installed on both platforms.

This is not the first time the Indian government has taken action against Chinese-origin apps. In February 2022, they banned 52 such apps, including Free Fire, with backing from Tencent, the largest shareholder of Sea, the Singapore-based developer. Previous bans targeted popular apps like PUBG Mobile and TikTok.

The return of Dead by Daylight Mobile to Indian app stores remains uncertain, with further updates to be shared when possible. Recently, the game underwent significant changes, prompting existing players to migrate their accounts to a new version. However, certain content will not carry over, and the developer plans to compensate players with in-game currency. The migration window will close on May 10, and detailed information is available on the official FAQ website.

Dead by Daylight Mobile is not only a mobile gaming sensation but also a Hollywood attraction. Production company Blumhouse will collaborate with Behaviour Interactive and James Wan’s Atomic Monster to develop a feature film adaptation. The search for a director and writer is underway, as Blumhouse aims to find someone who can bring the game’s world to the big screen. CEO Jason Blum expressed the importance of finding a filmmaker who appreciates and loves the franchise as much as they do.

In conclusion, Dead by Daylight Mobile is no longer available for download on Android or iOS in India, as it has been removed from the app stores due to a government order.
