D-Orbit has announced a collaboration with SkyServe to integrate edge computing on the SkyServe STORM platform, utilizing the ION Satellite Carriers. This partnership aims to enhance in-orbit data processing capabilities significantly.
As part of Mission Matterhorn, the SkyServe STORM platform will utilize D-Orbit’s real-time earth observation data, computational power, and data distribution resources to transform images into actionable insights directly in space. This initiative will empower geospatial organizations and analytics companies to apply artificial intelligence directly on satellites, improving data processing and analytics in orbit.
“SkyServe STORM’s deployment is a critical step in advancing space-based data analytics,” stated Vinay Simha, CEO of SkyServe. “Our collaboration with D-Orbit allows us to undertake complex processing tasks in orbit, improving space data’s accessibility and utility for our clients.”
The deployment of SkyServe STORM on D-Orbit’s ION Satellite Carrier will enable a range of data processing functions, such as smart discard, tasking, compression, and deep learning capabilities on future D-Orbit missions.
Viney Jean-Francois Dhiri, D-Orbit’s Head of Business Development, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership. “Working with SkyServe on this mission underscores the synergy between leading space tech companies and the significant outcomes they can achieve for technology, business, and society,” he commented. “This collaboration not only enhances the capabilities of their in-orbit STORM platform but also aligns with our mission to offer comprehensive in-orbit services.”
D-Orbit has been a pioneer in deploying software in orbit and continues to be a key player in a dynamic ecosystem aimed at advancing space technologies. This partnership highlights D-Orbit’s commitment to innovation in space, providing customers with essential services to showcase their capabilities in orbit and offering ongoing support for those looking to leverage space for their technologies and applications.
