Customisation Features for Android: Initially Exclusive to Pixel Phones with Other Users to Follow Suit later.

During Google I/O, while the world waited for big announcements regarding Android 14, the company focused its presentation on the Android ecosystem. However, there are a few features for Pixel smartphones that will be available in the next iteration of the mobile operating system. These include Magic Compose, lock screen and wallpaper customization, and support for Night Mode in social media apps like Instagram.
“We’re introducing new ways to personalize your Android phone, powered by Google’s advances in generative AI technology. See how Android can help you transform the look and feel of your device across your messages, lock screen, wallpaper, and more,” the company said in a statement.
Magic Compose in Messages
Magic Compose is a new Google Messages feature powered by generative AI. It helps users choose a response from the suggested options based on the context of their messages.

The options include different message tones such as concise, professional, or even those written like Shakespeare himself! The beta version of Magic Compose will roll out this summer.
Lock Screen and Wallpaper Customization
As part of the company’s Material You theme, Google is expanding personalization options to change the look of Android smartphones. With the launch of Android 14 later this year, users will be able to customize their lock screen with new shortcuts, clocks, and a new monochrome color theme.
In addition, Google will also roll out emoji wallpapers first to Pixel devices next month.

Emoji wallpaper allows users to customize their devices using emoji combinations, patterns, and colors. There is also a Cinematic wallpaper option that uses on-device machine learning networks to transform photos into 3D images. Users can also create a wallpaper with generative AI.
Night Mode Support for Social Media Apps
Google will also bring support for Night Mode and 10-bit HDR video in social apps like Instagram. Additionally, Google will introduce Ultra HDR in Android 14.
