A resolution expressing support for military families was also approved. According to Director of Communications Brooke Allen, it is part of the requisites needed in order for the school district to apply for the Indiana Department of Education’s Purple Star School designation.

As part of the requirements, Purple Star schools must have a point of contact for military families, a dedicated webpage with resources for service members, veterans and their families, as well as host an annual military program.

The next school board meeting is slated for May 20.
