META’S smash-hit virtual reality headset has been discounted to just $249.
It’s part of a permanent discount that sees the price of the Meta Quest 2 slashed by $50.
The all-in-one VR goggles used to cost $299.99, but Meta is hoping to make it more affordable for regular users.
And Walmart is now stocking the gadget with the new pricing, and has stamped it with the retailer’s “popular pick” badge.
According to Walmart, more than 500 units have been “bought since yesterday”.

The Meta Quest 2 is a virtual reality headset that you can use to enter immersive CGI spaces.
It’s cable-free so you can roam freely around the virtual space by physically walking in the real world.
The headset supports hand-tracking and comes with two controllers so you can interact with objects and environments.
There are hundreds of apps and games to enjoy, including Meta’s own Horizon metaverse.

That’s based on 2,376 reviews, of which nearly 73% were five-star reatings.
A further 11% of buyers gave it four stars, with the rest made up of a mix of one-, two-, and three-star reviews.
One buyer with a Verified Purchase badge left a five-star review and wrote: “My son loves it!!! Hasn’t put it down since I bought it.
“And it’s also the coolest thing I’ve ever experienced too. Thumbs up all the way!!!”
