Samsung suggested in its news release that Circle to Search might not be coming to other Android devices anytime soon

Samsung Netherlands said this in a recent news release:

Circle to Search may become available on Android devices from other brands from 5 October 2024, but there are no active developments underway for this.

In other words, Circle to Search is currently exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, the Google Pixel 8, and Pixel 8 Pro. That said, it’s safe to assume that the next generation of Galaxy Z foldable phones, Galaxy Tab S flagship tablets, and Google Pixel phones will continue to ship with the AI feature.

To recap, Circle to Search is powered by Google and can be best thought of as a shortcut to Google Lens. You can circle anything on the display and the AI feature will execute an image search in Google Search.

In our review of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, we found the feature to be useful especially when planning for overseas trips as you can circle landmarks from social media platforms and have Circle to Search identify their locations.

For an ecosystem that is often touted as being more open and accessible for smartphone users from different brands, the exclusivity of Circle to Search to the Galaxy S24 and Pixel 8 series seems to be at odds with Android’s philosophy.
