Samsung is continuing its impressive work with software updates. While it has released the One UI 6.1 update to recently released high-end Galaxy phones, the older and mid-range devices are getting the latest security updates instead. The Galaxy S20 FE is getting the April 2024 update in the USA.
Carrier-locked Galaxy S20 FE units get April 2204 security update in the USA
The carrier-locked version of the Galaxy S20 FE is now getting the new software update in the US. The update comes bearing firmware version G781USQSFHXD1 and is available on AT&T, Dish, Metro PCS, Sprint, and T-Mobile networks in the country. It brings the April 2024 security patch that fixes a few dozen security vulnerabilities discovered in the previous software versions. It is a minor update with no new features.
If you have a Galaxy S20 FE’s carrier-locked unit in the US, you should now check for the new update on your phone. You can do that by opening the Settings app, navigating to Software update, and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our database and flash it manually if you’re well-versed in the manual firmware flashing process. It requires access to a computer running Windows OS and the Odin tool.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 FE in mid-2020 with Android 10 onboard. It received the Android 11 update in late 2020, the Android 12 update in late 2021, and the Android 13 update in late 2022. It did not receive the Android 14 update, and if you want to use the latest version of Android and One UI, you should consider upgrading to the Galaxy S23 FE.
