Capcom Showcase Event Next Week to Feature Dragon’s Dogma II Confirmation

Capcom is all set to blow gaming enthusiasts’ minds with its annual presentation featuring Dragon’s Dogma II, Exoprimal, and Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, among other games. The event is scheduled for June 12 at 3 pm PT in the US, while Indian gamers can catch the action at 3:30 am IST on June 13. The live stream will be available on Capcom’s official YouTube and Twitch channels. This news comes soon after Capcom’s announcement as a partner for Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest last month.

The PlayStation Showcase event didn’t disappoint gamers as it showcased an action-packed trailer for Dragon’s Dogma II. While the plot details are still tightly under wraps, gamers know that the chosen one, “Arisen,” must step up to vanquish the dragon ruling the underground gaol and claim the throne. Interestingly, this mythical creature is regarded as both a threat to the world’s existence and a god by a portion of the population. Additionally, players won’t be alone in their quest, as mysterious beings called “Pawns” will accompany them. While these are AI-driven, they are sure to make for an unforgettable team.

The Dragon’s Dogma II trailer also features the sorceress, who questions the player’s abilities, similar to Yennefer from The Witcher 3. The game’s description hints that players can approach different situations uniquely, such that they can sway the sorceress with their dialogue options. Furthermore, the gameplay footage showcased during the event revealed the potential of playing as a sorcerer—creating water bridges, casting fiery meteors, and even creating an artificial sun to illuminate dark corners of the forest.

The Dragon’s Dogma II gameplay and combat resemble that of Final Fantasy XVI, where players fight against mythical creatures such as gryphons, orcs, and a deadly enemy. However, the game’s difficulty level is still uncertain and builders promise the inclusion of the Beastren, a new race of beasts, into the game.

Capcom plans to drop new details of their upcoming releases in their 40th-anniversary presentation, which spans 36 minutes. Additionally, Capcom’s ongoing Steam sale offers discounts of up to 87% on select titles. Finally, gamers can expect more information about Resident Evil 4’s free VR mode for the upcoming PS VR2.
