Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Is Bringing Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, 21 Savage

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is set to make a splash in the gaming world by bringing in popular rappers to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop music. The highly anticipated Season 5 update, launching on August 2, will introduce Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj as playable operators in both the game and its battle royale counterpart, Warzone 2.0. In addition to the new operators, players can look forward to three fresh multiplayer maps and a selection of ‘War Track’ packs featuring hip-hop music to enhance their in-game experience. Activision has also given fans a glimpse of a third operator through a silhouette, revealing that it is none other than 21 Savage. While pricing details are yet to be confirmed, players can expect these exciting additions to be available as separate bundles for purchase.

Minaj’s appearance in Call of Duty was hinted at in a promotional video released last year, prior to the global launch of Modern Warfare II. According to the official blog post by Activision, the artist’s in-game look draws inspiration from her latest alter ego ‘Red Ruby Da Sleeze,’ which coincides with the release of the Barbie movie and the resulting internet fascination with the color pink and sassy themes. Further details about Minaj’s bright pink assault rifle will be unveiled at a later date. This collaboration marks Snoop Dogg’s third appearance in a Call of Duty game, following his initial role as a multiplayer announcer in Call of Duty: Ghosts, and subsequent appearances in Call of Duty: Vanguard and Mobile. Snoop Dogg’s rifle in the upcoming collaboration will be a silenced, blue-tinted weapon adorned with gold engravings that resemble a marijuana leaf, reflecting his personal style.

Call of Duty is known for its unconventional collaborations, such as the recent partnership with the Amazon Prime Video series The Boys, which brought Homelander, Starlight, and Black Noir into the game, complete with their own unique finishing moves like laser eyes. Other exciting crossovers include featuring the legendary Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi, introducing outfits inspired by the popular anime Attack on Titan, and even incorporating Godzilla into the game’s map for a limited-time mode in 2022. With more brand partnerships on the horizon, players can expect even more outrageous operators to join the action, following in the footsteps of games like Fortnite that have successfully embraced such collaborations for years.

Season 5 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 also brings three new multiplayer maps: Livestock, an offshore Petrov Oil Rig, and Harbor, which features bustling fish markets and shipping areas. Players can anticipate the introduction of exciting new game modes, including Havoc, a classic arena shooter with added random modifiers that aim to make gameplay fast-paced and unpredictable. These modifiers may affect your operator’s jump heights to simulate moonwalking, cause an explosive blast upon landing from high altitudes, and much more. Additionally, the update will introduce captivating capture-the-flag modes and Gunfight Variants, offering intense 2v2 and 4v4 close-quarters matchups. To add to the excitement, a battle pass will be available, and Warzone 2.0 will feature new vehicles like dirt bikes and an MRAP armored vehicle.

The Season 5 event for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled to go live on August 2 across multiple platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
