Be careful, one of Diablo 4’s Season Blessings does the opposite of what it should do

The launch of Diablo 4’s inaugural season has been quite chaotic. Even before Season of the Malignant began, players were already outraged about the pre-season 1.1.0 patch.

Blizzard has acknowledged these concerns and vowed not to release such a patch again. They will be releasing the first update, patch 1.1.1, next week to address these issues.

However, amidst all the anger over mechanical changes and balance tweaks, we shouldn’t overlook the bugs in the season. One particular bug involves the Season Blessing called the Urn of Bargaining. As part of the Season 1 battle pass, players can earn Smoldering Ashes which can be used to purchase passive upgrades available only during the season.

These upgrades are similar to the boons found in the old Paragon system in Diablo 3. The Urn of Bargaining, for instance, increases the amount of gold obtained from selling items to vendors. There are four levels of this blessing, providing a substantial amount of gold for players in Diablo 4’s late-game where gold is scarce and highly valuable.

Unfortunately, while the Urn of Bargaining does increase the amount of gold earned from each sale, it unintentionally affects the game’s economy in a negative way. Twitch streamer DatModz discovered that the blessing also increases the cost of re-rolling stats on Legendary items, which can be an expensive process already.

Further testing by Reddit users revealed that this bug does not apply to Rare items, but it does affect the cost of repairing items. Currently, players can refund their Smoldering Ashes investments (for a small amount of gold) and allocate them to other Season Blessings. Once a player earns Smoldering Ashes, they can freely distribute them among different urns for additional bonuses, albeit with a fee.

Unfortunately, since this bug has only recently been discovered, it may not be fixed in the upcoming 1.1.1 patch for Diablo 4. Players should keep this in mind while playing the game.
