Greta Gerwig, the director behind Barbie, made history as the first female director to join the billion-dollar club when the film surpassed $1 billion at the global box office.

Retaining its position in second place, Oppenheimer collected $18.8 million in the domestic market. Oppenheimer’s earnings have now reached $264.26 million in North America and a total of $649.02 million worldwide.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem secured third place with domestic earnings of $15.75 million, only experiencing a 44% decline from its opening weekend. The latest installment of the TMNT franchise has accumulated $72.78 million in North America and a total of $94.7 million worldwide.

Meg 2: The Trench swam its way to fourth place, amassing $12.7 million in box office sales. In fifth place, The Last Voyage of the Demeter opened with a solid North American debut of $6.5 million.
