‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ patch fixes story getting “too big” for save files

The latest hotfix for Baldur’s Gate 3, version 2.1, has successfully addressed the issue of the game’s story databases becoming too large due to the increasing number of campaign choices made by players.

In a recent post on Steam, Larian Studios also announced that cross saves for PlayStation 5 have been reactivated for the game’s upcoming release on the console in September.

“It appears that many of you have been engaging in so many activities within Baldur’s Gate 3 that your personal ‘story’ databases, which store your choices and actions, have become too large,” stated the developer.

“To accommodate the vast amount of content you are creating on your journeys, we have made the database size infinite (or at least as infinite as your storage space allows). Any other issues should be reported to the Baldur’s Gate 3 support team for resolution,” they added.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has enjoyed tremendous success for Larian Studios, with over 800,000 players diving into the game over its debut weekend. As of now, it holds the highest rating of any game released this year, surpassing The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom to claim the number one spot on Metacritic.

However, the developer found themselves in a difficult situation when it was discovered that none of the Brazilian Portuguese translators, who worked on over a million words of story content, were credited for their contributions.

Only the executives of Altagram Group were acknowledged, and the developer quickly clarified that this was an oversight. “This was solely the responsibility of Altagram Group,” a spokesperson stated. “Once we (Larian) were made aware of the situation, we immediately took corrective measures in collaboration with Altagram.”
