While D&D has a maximum level of 20, Baldur’s Gate 3 only allows you to reach a little over half of that at level 12. This may seem insignificant to players who are not familiar with D&D, but for those of us with long-standing campaigns, it’s a significant limitation. Regardless of which Baldur’s Gate 3 class you’re playing as, leveling up requires a substantial amount of time.
Fortunately, there is a mod available that can ease the leveling grind for those who find themselves growing impatient while waiting to unlock new skills in Baldur’s Gate 3. The mod, titled ‘Fast XP’ and created by Nexus content creator ‘Malcroix’, does exactly what its name suggests. With Fast XP, you earn double the experience while playing, allowing you to reach level 6 almost immediately after starting the game.
The option to quickly reach level 6 allows you to bypass the early leveling right after leaving the Nautiloid ship. On the mod’s official page, Malcroix describes it as “for those who have already played through early access and don’t want to spend any more time as a low-level character.” It’s important to note that this option does not affect the game’s balance outside of accelerating your progression to level 6.
Malcroix states that the mod is “not a cheat but rather a way to move through the Prologue and Act I faster, for those who are already familiar with these areas and want to get to the new parts more quickly.” If you desire more experience permanently, you can choose the other mod option that halves XP requirements for each level, effectively doubling your XP gain. Alternatively, you can activate both options. There’s no dungeon master to stop you.
