Baldur’s Gate 3 May Get a Way to Change Your Appearance After Character Creation

Players of Baldur’s Gate 3 have dedicated a significant amount of time to the character creation tool. Last Friday, Larian Studios, the developer, announced that users have spent a total of 88 years, or 770,000 hours, crafting their beloved custom characters. Additionally, 10% of users have spent at least an hour using the character creation tool.

However, not all players are satisfied with their character’s appearance once they enter the game world. Many Baldur’s Gate 3 players have requested the ability to change their character’s appearance after starting the game. Michael Douse, Director of Publishing at Larian, confirmed yesterday that the developers have received this feedback and are working on implementing the feature. While there is no confirmed release date for this feature yet, we will keep you informed as soon as it becomes available, just as we have with the previous hotfixes.

The first official patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 has not yet been released, but Larian has confirmed in their latest community update that it is coming. This patch will include a “gigantic list of tweaks and changes.”

We have a roadmap for hotfixes and patches, thanks to your excellent reporting and the outstanding work of our support and development teams. We do not publish our roadmaps because we want the flexibility to adjust as needed when unforeseen circumstances arise. However, we want you to know that we have a plan in place and are currently working towards Patch 1, which will include a significant number of improvements and changes. We will share the details of this patch once they are finalized.

The most recent hotfix has also increased the maximum size of save games to accommodate the various choices made by players. However, as noted by PC Gamer, this could result in the Baldur’s Gate 3 save directory (located at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Larian Studios\Baldur’s Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public\Savegames\Story if playing on Windows or $HOME/Documents/Larian Studios/Baldur’s Gate 3/PlayerProfiles/Public/Savegames/Story if playing on MacOS) containing several gigabytes of data.

My save directory is nearly 4GB, although I save my progress every fifteen minutes and am now in Act 3, having played over 70 hours so far. If necessary, you can delete old saves to free up space, especially if you are unlikely to revisit a specific point in Act 1.
