Baldur’s Gate 3 is full of interesting and fun characters that you can come across. Some of these characters may be willing to help you in your battle against the Absolute and their cultists. If so, they may even be willing to join your camp.
One character that is willing to join you and will join your camp is Gale. He is one of the many companions that will follow you to the ends of the world in order to stop the Absolute. Here’s the best build for him.
Updated by Erin Rice on September 4, 2023: This update details the different levels Gale will reach. It also adds more information regarding the best items for players to equip him with in order to make him the best he can be.
Gale Companion Overview
Gale is a Human Wizard of the Evocation Subclass that will ask to join you on your adventures. He is one of the best companions you can find in the game and has an interesting backstory. Not only is he an extremely powerful Wizard, but he also is a ticking time bomb. He fell in love with a goddess and made some questionable decisions that have led him to where he is today. When you first meet him, he will be stuck inside the Roadside Cliffs Waypoint near the beach that you crash onto.
Once you help him out of the Waypoint, he will inform you that he is just like you and is infected with a Mind Flayer Tadpole. This encourages him to do whatever it takes to help you get rid of yours. He is also a romance option. If you want to romance him, all you need to do is do actions he would approve of. Overall, he is a good character. As long as you try to be a nice person and steer clear of making deals with devils, you should be good.
Best Subclass For Gale
The best Subclass for Gale (and all Wizards) is the Evocation Subclass. Thankfully, this is the Subclass that Gale is when he joins your party. This means you won’t have to ask Withers to reroll his Class and Subclass. Evocation Wizards focus on AOE spells. They are able to hit large areas with their spells and take out quite a few enemies at once. This makes them amazing to use and a great resource for taking out hordes of enemies at once. If you want the best Abilities for Gale, you’ll want the following.
- Strength – 8
- Dexterity – 16
- Constitution – 14
- Intelligence – 16
- Wisdom – 10
- Charism – 10
When it comes to Wizards, they will be able to do the most damage when their Intelligence is high. You also want to build up their Dexterity because it is the best way to ensure he is able to easily get around the battlefield.
