Apple launches its latest-generation smartwatch, Watch Series 9, in a brand new colour: Price and other details

Apple has introduced the (Product) Red version of the Apple Watch Series 9 (review), which, as the name implies, is red in colour. The Apple Watch Series 9 (Product) Red comes with some unique watch faces to commemorate World AIDS Day.

Apple has teamed up with (RED) to support the Global Fund’s efforts in combating HIV/AIDS. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of (PRODUCT)RED products is donated to the Global Fund, which uses all of Apple’s contributions to finance HIV/AIDS programs in sub-Saharan Africa.

The new Palette and Solar Analog watch faces in watchOS 10, along with the Metropolitan, World Time, Numerals Mono, Gradient, Stripes, and Typograph watch faces, now include red options as well, to celebrate World AIDS Day.

Apple Watch Series 9 (Product) Red is available for purchase through Apple’s online store and retail stores, starting at Rs 41,900/ $399.

The Apple Watch Series 9 features a new S9 chip and quad-core neural engine, providing faster processing and improved performance. It has an 18-hour battery life, 25% better dictation accuracy, and 30% faster speed than the previous Series 8. The maximum brightness is up to 2000 nits, twice that of the Series 8. The Series 9 brings a new double-tap gesture that lets wearers control Watch functions without touching the screen.

The new Apple Watch Series 9 (Product) Red joins the existing (Product) Red variants for the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 13, and iPhone SE.

Apple pledges in-app purchase and Pay transaction proceeds to Global Fund

From today until December 4, the App Store will donate all proceeds generated from select exclusive in-app purchases of three games – MONOPOLY GO!, Gardenscapes, and EA Sports FC Mobile – to the Global Fund.

Moreover, from now until December 8, for every purchase made using Apple Pay on apple.com, through the Apple Store app, or at any Apple Store location, Apple will donate $1. Customers can purchase any Apple product or accessory and contribute to saving lives. Hundreds of Apple Store locations worldwide will also display in-store exhibits in honor of the event.

Apple says that in the last 17 years, its customers have contributed over a quarter of a billion dollars, providing millions of individuals with access to essential antiretroviral treatment and HIV testing. This initiative has also helped HIV-positive mothers prevent transmission of the virus to their babies.
