Ahead of its release, the system requirements for Dead Island 2 on PC have been announced.

Dead Island 2, the highly anticipated zombie-slasher sequel, will be launching a week early on April 21. To prepare gamers for the release, developer Dambuster Studios has released the system requirements for the game. As expected with modern PC games, Dead Island 2 demands some heavy hardware to run smoothly at recommended, high, and ultra settings. While the minimum memory and storage requirements are fairly standard at 10GB and 70GB respectively, the game requires higher-end CPUs and graphics cards.

In terms of graphics, Dead Island 2 supports AMD’s FSR2 upscaling methods, promising improved performance without compromising visual fidelity. The official spec sheet only covers PC requirements for 1080p resolution and above, stating that a Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics card is needed to play the game at 1080p 30fps. The GTX 1060 is a popular choice among gamers, according to Steam’s Hardware Survey. It’s worth noting that Dead Island 2 will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store on PC. Additionally, it’s unclear whether Dambuster Studios is referring to the 3GB or 6GB version of the graphics card, as the AMD alternative Radeon RX 480 comes in 4GB and 8GB variants.

PC requirements for running modern AAA games have become increasingly demanding, with even The Last of Us Part I struggling to meet the benchmarks set by its own developer, Naughty Dog. This is often due to a lack of optimization for the PC platform, as studios tend to prioritize console versions.

Now, let’s look at the specific PC system requirements for Dead Island 2, as provided by Dambuster Studios. The game requires a Windows 10 64-bit operating system and at least 70GB of free storage space on an SSD.

Minimum PC requirements for Dead Island 2 include an Intel Core i7-7700HQ or AMD FX-9590 processor, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 480 graphics card, 10GB of RAM, and a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels at 30fps.

Recommended PC requirements include an Intel Core i9-9900K or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT graphics card, 16GB of RAM, and a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels at 60fps.

For those aiming for high settings, the game suggests an Intel Core i5-12600KF or AMD Ryzen 7 7700X processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 or AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT graphics card, 16GB of RAM, and a resolution of 1440p at 60fps.

Finally, the ultra settings require an Intel Core i7-13700K or AMD Ryzen 9 7900X processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 or AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT graphics card, 16GB of RAM, and a resolution of 4K at 60fps.

After years of development, Dead Island 2 is finally set to release on April 21. The game, which takes place in a sunny and fictional version of Los Angeles known as “HELL-A,” offers players a thrilling co-op story mode for up to three players. However, cross-play is not supported. On PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, the game will run at 60fps, while older consoles like PS4 and Xbox One will have a cap of 30fps.

Fans can look forward to playing Dead Island 2 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X from April 21 onwards.
