Adam Devine Stars as a ‘Reformed’ Protagonist in R-Rated Genndy Tartakovsky Movie

Dog movies are often enjoyed by audiences, and they are even more delightful when they are animated. When we think of pet-related films, classics like “Scooby Doo” and “Mr. Peabody and Sherman” come to mind. These warm, comedic, and family-oriented features never fail to entertain us. However, filmmaker Genndy Tartakovsky, known for his work on “Hotel Transylvania” and “Star Wars: Clone Wars,” is about to revolutionize the genre with his latest R-rated animated film, “Fixed,” according to a report by Variety.

In “Fixed,” a dog named Bull discovers that he is going to be neutered the next morning. Realizing the life-altering consequences, Bull decides to embark on one final adventure with his loyal group of friends. Tartakovsky admits that some people may feel uncomfortable with the concept, but he recalls the moment of inspiration during a pitch meeting with Sony back in 2010. The idea came to him in an instant, and he shares, “They find out one of their friends will get neutered!” The room erupted in laughter, and the concept was approved. The director’s goal was to create a timeless film that blends classic elements while pushing boundaries.

Tartakovsky goes on to say that “Fixed” is like “Lady and the Tramp” or “101 Dalmatians,” but with an R-rating. He acknowledges the mature content but emphasizes that beneath that, the film tells a sweet, charming, and sincere story of friendship and romance.

The movie will also showcase the beauty of 2-D animation, a style that Tartakovsky believes has become a lost art in the era of computer-generated graphics. He cites “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” and “Knocked Up” as his inspirations for “Fixed.” The voice cast is exceptional, with Adam Devine voicing Bull, Idris Elba as his buddy Rocco, and Kathryn Hahn as Bull’s love interest, Honey. Producer Michelle Murdocca explains that Kathryn Hahn wanted her character to have depth and be more than just a sweet, one-dimensional girl. This decision brought the character to life.

Completing the talented cast are Bobby Moynihan as Lucky, Fred Armisen as Fetch, Beck Bennett as Sterling, River Gallo as Frankie, and Michelle Buteau as Molasses. With such a skilled group of actors and a talented production team, “Fixed” is undoubtedly a film to anticipate. As of now, there is no confirmed release date for the movie.
