Activision Blizzard’s $69 Billion Acquisition: Microsoft Explores Solutions for UK Approval

The President of Microsoft, Brad Smith, has expressed his intention to find solutions that would enable his company’s acquisition of gaming company Activision Blizzard, valued at $69 billion (nearly Rs. 5,71,730 crore), to be approved by British regulators. In April, the UK competition authorities blocked the deal, however, Microsoft has since appealed the decision. Smith remained optimistic on potentially changing the outcome and stated that the company was looking for ways to address any concerns or problems raised by regulators. Microsoft has also appealed against the US Federal Trade Commission’s action seeking to block the deal on the grounds of competition suppression. The company has filed an appeal against the Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) in challenge of Britain’s decision to block the takeover. Last month, Microsoft evaded a potential legal obstacle when a US judge refused to allow gamers in a private suit to preliminarily block the acquisition.

In addition, the Motorola Edge 40 has recently made its debut in the country as the successor to the Edge 30. In a discussion on the Gadgets 360 podcast, Orbital, experts reviewed whether it was worth purchasing the Motorola Edge 40 over the Nothing Phone 1 or the Realme Pro+.
