When Nothing unveiled its first product, the Ear (1), on a global scale, it captivated people with its innovative transparent design, both for the earbuds and the case. This commitment to transparency has become Nothing’s signature philosophy, which is evident in their other devices such as the Nothing Phone (1), Nothing Ear (2), and the upcoming Nothing Phone (2). Carl Pei, the founder of Nothing, has emphasized the meticulous effort and attention to detail required to achieve this transparent design. He recently revealed on Twitter that he had a backup plan for the Ear (1) case design.
Nothing’s Backup Plan for Ear (1) Case
Pei shared on his official Twitter handle that they had also developed a non-transparent case as a backup plan for the Ear (1) TWS earbuds. His tweet read, “With Ear (1) in 2021, we introduced Nothing’s design identity to the world, but we also learned the hard way that transparency wasn’t easy. We even prototyped a non-transparent case as a backup plan, but we quickly came back to our senses.”
A Look at the Non-Transparent Ear (1) Case
Pei also shared a prototype image of the Ear (1) without its transparent case. The case featured in the image was rectangular and white in color, with the Ear (1) earbuds placed inside. It had the Nothing logo on the top left side and a light indicator at the front. Additionally, there was a button located on the left side of the case.
Upcoming Launch of Nothing Phone (2)
Nothing is preparing to expand its product portfolio with the launch of the Nothing Phone (2). Pei has already confirmed that the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. He has also teased some key details about the upcoming smartphone, such as a new customizable Glyph interface. The Nothing Phone (2) will run on the Nothing OS 2.0, which is expected to bring significant improvements in terms of features, design, and user experience.
