YouTube Premium’s Loyalty Gift: Delightful Badges Spreading Joy to Dedicated Viewers

YouTube Premium has introduced a new way to recognize and appreciate its loyal users – badges. These badges are beautifully animated cards that users receive at various usage milestones. Although they don’t provide any special privileges on the platform, they add a refreshing touch to the user experience.

Of course, the world of memes and humor enthusiasts can already imagine the reactions to YouTube blessing paying users with web cards of no practical value. However, it’s all in good fun.

The news of these badges was first reported by 9to5Google, stating that users are greeted with a colorful message on their Home feed when opening the app: “Congrats on your new badge!” Tapping on the message leads them to a full-screen card displaying details about the reward. According to the user, all the badges are animated and entertaining.

If you have received a badge but can’t find it or simply want to admire it again, you can access your badge collection by tapping your profile avatar on mobile (top-right corner) and navigating to “Your Premium benefits”. Please note that this feature is only available to active Premium members. Additionally, if you’re an iOS user who has also received a badge, feel free to show it off in the comments section.

It’s worth mentioning that currently, these badges are only available on mobile and have not been implemented on the web version of YouTube.

‘Gotta collect ’em all!’

Now, let’s explore the different badges available. It’s important to note that the characteristics of these badges may change over time, but as of now, there are 19 badges in total.

The first badge, ‘Team Premium’, is self-explanatory – it is automatically added to your collection when you have a paid membership. Another badge, called ‘Trailblazer’, rewards users who joined YouTube Premium within the first 2 years of its launch. The ’10 million club’ badge is earned by those who were among the platform’s first 10 million Premium members.

While we won’t list every single badge, some interesting ones include ‘Worry-free watcher’ and ‘Gold/Platinum listener’. One of the more humorous badges is ‘Efficiency expert’, which is given to users who have watched 30 hours of picture-in-picture content.

The giant’s next step

YouTube continues to introduce new features and bonuses for its users. Just recently, the platform announced smoother 1080p video streaming for its Premium users. Moreover, YouTube has hinted at the possibility of hosting mobile and desktop video games, indicating its ambition to expand into new territories.
