YouTube Mobile Redesigned With New Video Watch Page on Android and iOS

YouTube has been experimenting with its layout and design from the past few months to serve users in a better way. Earlier YouTube has made changes in the Trending section by replacing it with the Explore tab. And now, the tech giant has made several changes focused on getting you to watch and engage with more content.

YouTube for Android and iOS now has a new video page that elevates, but shrinks comments and introduces large video thumbnails. With this change, you will now see the comment section just below the channel bar instead of at the bottom of the page. This section features a count and the top comment, with a tap anywhere showing the full list.

YouTube mentioned that while experimenting with this feature it had found that “more people are writing comments with the new design.” This is because it becomes easier for people to directly give their feedback right below the channel instead of scrolling to the bottom.

Apart from this, the next notable change that YouTube has implemented is switching to nearly full-width thumbnails for the “Up next” feed.  Video details appear below, instead of to the right, and includes a channel’s avatar icon. Lastly, Up next will surface more types of content. This includes updates, polls, images, and GIFs from creators, as well as YouTube Mixes. One common item appearing is a carousel of “Stories and short videos.”

Meanwhile, Google has also made some notable changes in YouTube Music. The tech giant has announced today via the official Twitter account of YouTube Music that both Android and iOS users of the app will now be able to find new music through the newly introduced ‘Explore’ tab. This is similar to the Explore tab that was earlier launched for YouTube. However, it further contains ‘New Releases’ and ‘Moods and genres’ tab that offers a variety of music options.
