TL;DR

  • Google has unveiled new features for YouTube Shorts.
  • These features have been inspired by Instagram and TikTok.
  • Users can now convert landscape videos into Shorts more easily.

In 2020, YouTube launched Shorts, its take on short vertical videos. Now, the platform is incorporating features from Instagram Reels and TikTok into Shorts.

YouTube recently announced six new additions to enhance the Shorts experience. One of these is the “Collab” feature, which allows users to record a Short in a side-by-side layout with an existing YouTube clip. This feature has long been available on Instagram and TikTok.

Furthermore, YouTube is introducing a Q&A sticker functionality, inspired by its rivals. This feature enables the audience to ask questions, and creators can respond via comments or with another Short, similar to the features on Instagram and TikTok.
